"We strive to build relationships with the kids. A lot of this is cultivating a safe environment for them to go outside their comfort zone. This allows them to bond with fellow campers and staff members while learning new life skills and overall, growing as a person."

Brian is celebrating over 23 years of being able to serve families and communities from coast to coast. His love of camp as a child motivated him to take a camp and afterschool position during his college years. That modest college job jumpstarted his passion and drive to help families discover their own love for camping and all the great things associated with camping. Brian’s vision for our camp programs is very simple, “We want to establish a connection with families and provide an environment for kids that is safe. We want kids to be challenged and to gain new skills. But first and foremost we want kids to have FUN and create lasting memories.”
Beginning as a dishwasher and lifeguard, Doug’s early experience living and working with his family at a church camp forged the path for his education and career. From 1979 until today, he has worked for the YMCA running or overseeing day camps, overnight camps and other youth programs. Covering California, Arizona, Michigan and now Texas, Doug and his wife, Jan, have raised three children at camp, lived in beautiful places and made a lot of friends who love the outdoors. Believing that “camp changes lives forever” Doug is motivated to create a special place for campers and is anxious to meet you.
Rachel’s connection to the YMCA started early as she and her dad participated in Indian Princesses, now Adventure Princesses. Princess camp-outs sparked Rachel’s love of the outdoors. Entering university, her connection was renewed through volunteer work with the University YMCA in Toledo. From fundraisers to afterschool, Rachel caught the Y bug. On a whim, she applied for a camp counselor position wanting to take her Y work outside. During that first summer in Arizona, Rachel knew that camp was the place for her. Rachel knows the transformative power of camp and strives to bring that power to the community of Camp Twin Lakes.
Originally from Lubbock, Texas, Nathan moved to Central Texas in 2006 and completed his Recreational Administration degree from Texas State while working for the YMCA of Austin. After nearly four years of service with the YMCA of Austin, he joined the YMCA of Greater Williamson County in 2010. In addition to his role as Camp Twin Lakes Program Director, Nathan also serves as the program director for Camp Round Rock, oversees all of our school-based day camps and supervises high/low ropes activities. He loves to travel and spend time outdoors, and one of his favorite places to go is Big Bend National Park.
